The working principle of a diesel engine water pump is as follows
Before starting the pump, the pump casing is filled with water (or the pump casing itself contains water). After starting, the high-speed rotation of the impeller causes the water in the impeller channels to flow towards the volute casing, creating a vacuum at the inlet, which opens the check valve to allow air from the suction pipe to enter the pump and reach the outer edge through the impeller channels.
At this point, it is necessary to replace the O-ring for disassembly. The pump is fully enclosed to ensure that the pump performs well even in harsh conditions. Since the centrifugal pump relies on the impeller to create a vacuum for water suction, it is necessary to fill the pump and suction pipe with water before starting, or use a vacuum pump to remove air to create the vacuum.
